Gevey Sim Blocked in iOS 5 Beta 2

Gevey Sim, a sim card that could activate your iPhone by exploiting a baseband loophole for the emergency dialer has now been blocked by Apple.  Despite the legit function of allowing people to unlock their iPhones when their carrier would not despite being outside a contract, the Sim could in theory also be used to activate a stolen iPhone on a different network from the one it was stolen from.  iPhoneDownloadBlog speculates that Apple was pressured to and I can see where carriers who charge 200 for the phone and 350 early termination would have a problem with people buying the more expensive phones and canceling service to save some money.
